History of Gospel Power Christian Church
Gospel Power Christian Church was founded in July 2002 by Rev. Willie G. Holloway Sr. and Rev. Cecelia F. Holloway who are Pastor and Assistant Pastor, respectively. Both are ordained ministers. Pastor Holloway was ordained in 1981 and Asst. Pastor Holloway was ordained in 1990. They have been working in the ministry for more than thirty-four years.
Gospel Power was officially incorporated in the state of Missouri November 5, 2005 under the Missouri Nonprofit Corporation law. It is a public corporation and its duration is perpetual. The official by-laws of Gospel Power Christian Church were unanimously approved November 14, 2004 by its Board of Directors. There are seven board members, with the officers being Rev. Willie G. Holloway Sr., President, Rev. Cecelia Holloway, Vice President, and Ms. Lisa Billings, Secretary-Treasurer; additional members are Geraldine Ambus, Michael Allen (Deacon), James Thomas Jr., and Nadine Simms.
Gospel Power began in a single story white stone building located at 8773 N. Broadway in the city of St. Louis. The first church service was conducted Sunday, November 16, 2003. Gospel Power Christian Church had five services a week with three on Sunday and one on Wednesday and Friday, respectively. On Sunday, July 10, 2005 Gospel Power moved into its second location at 7200 W. Florissant in St. Louis. On Sunday, December 21, 2008 members celebrated the first service at the current loaction at 7005 Ascension Drive in St. Louis. Gospel Power holds four services per week: Sunday morning and evening, Wednesday night power and praise, and Friday night Bible study.
